Photo Trip... I mean Road Trip

When the number one highway between Vancouver and Calgary has your name written all over it, make sure you bring your camera.
The winter driving conditions can be deadly, the spring time driving is always a guessing game. The summer weekend traffic is painful and people seem to think the passing lanes are the Autobahn where speed limits don't matter. BUT... there is km after km of picturesque skyscapes  and breathtaking views. With highway rest stops like "tunnel Mountain" or even stops as simple as the main drag in Golden, were you are surrounded by mountains there is always a great photo close by.
This time it was the wildlife that caught my attention. I had the chance to see both male and female Elk. The male Elk were behind a fence in Banff National park so I didn't have a chance to snap a photo of them, and the female decided she wanted to play chicken and cross the hwy (another thing you must look out for while driving around Golden). So needless to say I didnt happen to get a picture of her.

MAKE SURE there is lots of shoulder room or you have a pull out to stop at. If it is busy do not just pull over and assume the pep pills, caffeine crazed semi truck drivers will slow down for you, your car, and your camera on the side of the busy highway. Also the bear may look like Winnie the Pooh but trust me they are NOT! They are wild animals please respect them and do not get to close.

After a brief moment of panic when the bear decided it wanted to cross the road and play chicken with a semi (didn't get hit) I was feeling pretty good about what nature and wildlife I had seen. I was ready to put some km behind me. Not to far down the road heading east bound just before the Lake Louise turn off I happened to spot two Mountain Goats walking along a rock face as if they were a couple of mountain climbers... Well they kinda are aren't they... Anyways, it was a great to get a couple more photos before it started to rain and the sky turned a dark grey. The rest of the drive was beautiful. Banff National Park, Canmore, the rest of the foothills and now just outside of Calgary.
I look forward to seeing what wild life and scenery the drive back home to Vancouver will have in store for me.
Cheers

Worret`s most recent Photo adventure to Cathedral Grove!

This old growth forest surrounds you, bringing you back into nature. Walking the south loop we came across many amazing natural phenomenons. 800 year old trees, living stumps, nurse trees,  trees that have had the inside burnt out and still living strong as ever.
This place was magical and seemed like a completely different world than the daily life in Vancouver, B.C. I recommend that anyone who loves nature escapes to this whimsical grove. This old growth forest surrounds you, bringing you back into nature. A Hint on Musk

The initial reaction to this photo is "hey, look at the beaver."
This little guy does have the same body shape and water loving properties as the beaver but it is a crafty little Muskrat. I shoot this photo in Bragg Creek, Alberta. This cute little guy was collecting either an afternoon snack or a nice piece of green to accent his wood coloured lodge.
I hope you enjoy.

Posey the Raccoon!

When a raccoon sits down and posses for you, you don't just sit there and say "aww isn't that cute." You take pictures and say "aww" later. Taking a beautiful walk through Stanley Park in Vancouver, B.C. We happened upon this cute raccoon. Some say they are pests who get into everything, but being from Calgary where we do not have them they are still a novelty to me. On this day in question we were walking around the Lost Lagoon area, which is a beautiful walk if anyone is interested in taking a little jaunt around a pond. This raccoon decided it wanted to follow us and then sit down right in front of me with my camera and stare at me until I took its picture. Thus the name "Posey" No fear at all, I guess when you live in a park that has that many people and that much food you don't have a lot to fear. Anyways I hope you enjoy these cute pictures.
